The background talking toward the endPosted by Mark, 09/09/2006 10:58
Of course everyone in this generation has a favorite Beatles song or two or ten or 50! I did not really hear "Hey Bull Dog" until many years later in a local coffee shop one day in my late forties in age. I think it was the general fast beating tempo and the the dark mantra-like delivery of rhyming proverbs or directives that Lennon speaks in with the heavy bass line rolling with energy. I especially like the random chatter toward the end where he chides the dog to bark or howl and then immediately tells him to quiet down. It's a darkly comical tone. It shows so much real playful character in their style that set a trend for future musicians to follow. - M Sept 9 2006
